And some fantastic graduate opportunities for 2014

Mackenzie Stuart

“We are an international search firm that places mid management to six figure board level appointments within Finance, Medical, Insurance, Law, Construction, Oil & Gas, Mining and Industrial. I would be interested to speak to anyone who feels they have what it takes to develop a career in executive recruitment. I have attached our graduate scheme brochure to provide further information.

During 2013 we have recruited 27 graduates to almost double the size of our business, and in December we moved to a new office in the heart of Leeds with the capacity for around 90, therefore given our growth plans it is very exciting times for our organisation. We are a young business, looking to grow to over 60 consultants over the next 12 months.

I would welcome anyone to send me their CV and contact me directly for an interview, or just to learn more about our business. “

The Phoenix Partnership

“I went to York a few years ago and I now work for The Phoenix Partnership (TPP) in Leeds. We are actively recruiting Business Analysts onto our Graduate Scheme at the moment and I wanted to reach out to undergrads and recent graduates to highlight the opportunity. The role is interesting, varied and challenging and includes opportunities for international travel. We are recruiting graduates now and also interviewing 3rd year students who will graduate in 2014. There’s no experience required, so it’s a great opportunity for students who are still thinking about what direction to take with their career.

Anyone interested should look on the TPP website and send their CV and covering letter to careers@tpp-uk.com.”

Message from David Linacre of Pinsent Masons

E-mail sent by Liam Tollinton, Tuesday, 22nd October 2013 @ 3:32pm

Good afternoon,

It was great to meet so many enthusiastic and well-prepared students at the Bright Futures event last night. We really enjoyed the event and I thought you may be interested to see our brand new graduate brochure which you can view by following this link. We will of course be attending the University of York Law Fair this Thursday so please come along and collect a hard copy on the day as well and to register your chance to win a SONOS music station which we are giving away at each law fair we are attending this year.  We also have an event coming up in York on the 28th November so please visit our events website for more information.

I also thought it would be helpful to summarise some further information about the firm and how to make an application to us for either a vacation placement or training contract which you can find below.

Why Pinsent Masons?

As talented students you have many options open to you and there are a number of firms out there who can genuinely offer you a fantastic career with the promise of interesting work, great clients and generous financial rewards. However, once you spend a little time getting to know an organisation and scratch below the glossy surface of the graduate brochure and website, the differences between them do start to emerge; in particular you start to get a feel for the organisation's values and culture. There is no right or wrong culture, instead you need to find the one that best matches your own personality, as working in this type of environment will tend to bring out the best in you and help you reach your individual potential. You can find out more about what qualities we look for in our candidates by visiting our graduate website.

2014 Vacation Placements

We have now started accepting applications for our summer 2014 vacation placements; our deadline for applications is not until January 2014 so there is plenty of time to apply. On average 70% of our trainees have undertaken a vacation placement at the firm, so it really is the best way to find out more about us and also secure a training contract. Please note we do not screen applications on a ‘rolling’ basis and so there is no advantage to submitting your application early; all applications will be screened shortly after the application deadline.  All candidates undertaking a vacation placement at the firm are automatically considered for a training contract, so there is no need to make a separate application.

2016 Training Contracts

If you are not in a position to undertake a vacation placement then you can still apply directly to us for a training contract. The deadline for applications varies by jurisdiction but the first deadline is for English applications and is not until 31 July 2014.

How can we keep in touch?

If you have any questions the Graduate Team are only an email or telephone call away, we also encourage students to seek us out on campus or attend one of our office insight evenings, a list of upcoming events is available here. As I mentioned we will be back in York later this term for both the Law Fair this Thursday and our Cocktail Master Class on the 28th November, you may also like to attend one of our Office Insight Evenings in December.

We are also active on social media including twitter and Facebook. You can also directly contact some of our trainee solicitors and members of the Graduate Team through our Career Inspiration App, which is linked to our Facebook page.

Best of luck with your applications.

Kind regards,

David
